Devotional: ‘Created for God’s Glory’

Standard

One of the reasons many of us fail to accomplish all that we could accomplish is because we don’t believe that our life has meaning or purpose. For some reason we think that we simply exist and that who we are or what we do doesn’t matter. But consider this inspiring verse of Scripture –

Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.”

Notice that this passage tells us that God has created each of us for His own pleasure. Therefore, each of us has a divine purpose. That is amazing when you stop and consider the billions of individuals who have lived upon this earth. Yet, if the Lord knows each of the stars by name (see Psalm 147:4), then He also knows each of us by name. Jesus said that God knows the exact number of hairs on our head! (see Luke 12:7) God knows each of us personally and He wants a personal relationship with us. He also has a perfect will for our life. Consider what the Psalmist wrote –

Psalm 139:1 O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. 5 You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.

13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.

God knows every detail of your life.

Perhaps you don’t feel very special today. Perhaps you see yourself as being of little value and your future as hopeless. Have you considered the fact that right at this very moment, God is thinking about you? The psalmist said, “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand…” How many grains of sand are there on the seashore? No doubt there are millions upon billions. Yet, the Lord’s good thoughts about us are more than all those grains of sand.

According to Scripture, you are God’s special creation that He has made for a very special purpose. Therefore, my friend, rather than wasting your time feeling sorry for yourself, try living today with expectancy. Believe that God loves you and that He wants to bless you and guide you. Expect Him to bless you. Expect Him to guide you. Expect Him to use you for His glory. Be as young Samuel when he said – ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.’ (1 Samuel 3:9)

I pray that today’s study has been an encouragement to you. God bless you brethren.

* Unless otherwise noted, all Scripture is taken from the New King James Version.
