One day, while a mother was trying to shop for groceries, her small child was acting up. Regardless of how the mother tried to make the little boy behave; he remained defiant. A woman nearby commented, “How in the world could someone continue to put up with such an unruly child?” The mother thought for a moment and then she replied, “Because he’s mine!”
Consider the apostle’s encouraging words concerning our relationship with our heavenly Father –
“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?” (Romans 8:31-35 NLT)
Aren’t you glad to know that there is nothing that can ever separate you from Christ’s love? Though men may sometimes question how God could ever love us, our heavenly Father will always reply – “Because they’re mine!” Therefore, no one can bring an accusation against us that will cause God to suddenly stop loving us. No one can condemn us when God has declared us to be justified.
I close today with these words from the book of Isaiah –
But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.” “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” (Isaiah 49:14-16 NIV)
