Devotional: ‘It Will Be Worth It All When We See Jesus’

What do you anticipate to be your greatest joy when you finally enter into heaven?  Will it be the atmosphere, the acquaintances, or the abundance?  I believe that above all else it will our opportunity to worship King Jesus!

The Apostle Paul wrote – “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

Songs have been written and pictures have been painted of what it will be like when we are in heaven.Some have expressed it as either a cabin on the hill or a mansion in the sky. Others have talked about streets of gold and walls adorned with precious jewels. Still others have focused upon their reunion with a loved one.

Though many of these things are very honorable, nothing in heaven will be more honorable than King Jesus. The Bible says that in heaven, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord. Far above every other experience or expectation will be the joy of seeing our Savior face to face.

Many years ago a woman by the name of Esther Kerr Rusthoi wrote a hymn “It Will Be Worth It All.’ Consider the first stanza –

It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
Life’s trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.

Scripture teaches us that for the last two thousand years, Jesus has been preparing a home for us in heaven. No doubt the streets of gold will be magnificent and the embraces of our loved ones will be very precious; but somewhere during our grand celebration our attention will be directed to the One who made it possible.

One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.
