Psalm 105:1 Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! 2 Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! 4 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! ESV
Life gets very complicated sometimes, doesn’t it? Most of us have so many things to do that we don’t know where to start. Yet perhaps the Lord doesn’t want our lives to be so complicated. Perhaps the Lord wants us to simplify. Consider these words from the psalmist regarding our duty as God’s people.
We Are to Worship the Lord
“…give thanks to the Lord… sing praises to him…glory in his holy name…let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!”
The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:31 that everything we do should be for the glory of God. This includes not only worship on Sunday, but all of our activities throughout the week. Jesus said that if we fail to praise Him, the very rocks will cry out in our stead. (see Luke 19:40)
We Are to Declare His Greatness to the World
“…make known his deeds among the peoples… tell of all his wondrous works!”
Throughout each day we are given a number of opportunities where we can publicly acknowledge the existence of God and His greatness. As you go through this day, look for those opportunities God gives you. Satan will do all he can to keep us silent, yet our verbal witness may be the very thing someone else needs to hear in order to come to Christ.
We Are to Pray for His Strength and Guidance
“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”
Perhaps one of the reasons our lives become so complicated is because we try to live too much of it on our own. The psalmist tells us that we should seek God’s strength and guidance in everything we do.
