“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” (Romans 8:31-32 NLT)
“If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” That is a tremendous spiritual truth. But in considering that truth we might ask – “How is God for us?” Monday we saw that God the Father is for us in that He has always loved us. Tuesday we saw that God the Son is for us in that He died for our sins. Today we see that God the Spirit is for us in that He helps us in our weaknesses.
1. God the Father is For Us In That He Has Always Loved Us
2. God the Son is For Us In That He Died For Our Sins
3. God the Spirit is For Us In That He Helps Us In Our Weaknesses
“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” (Rom 8:26-27 NLT)
In our weakest moments, God the Spirit is praying for us. When we don’t know what to do or how to pray, He is taking our needs and prayers and presenting them to the Father in a way that is in perfect harmony with God’s will.
We all go through days when we wonder if God still loves us. Perhaps our despair is due to some sin on our part, or perhaps it is due to some circumstance beyond our control; regardless of what it is that we feel is against us, if God is for us – who can be against us? He who was willing to give His only begotten Son for our sins, will surely give us everything else we need.
