Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds…
1) Jesus is Superior Because He is the Heir of All Things (see yesterday’s devotional)
2) Jesus is Superior Because He is the Creator of All Things
Jesus is the heir of all things because He is the creator of all things. The Bible says that during the middle of the Tribulation Period, an angel will cry out of heaven – “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” (Rev 11:15) Since the fall of man, Satan has tried to be earth’s ruler; yet he no more right to claim ownership than you or I do. Scripture teaches us that Satan is a fallen angel who was created by God. Scripture also teaches us that at the end of time, he will be judged by Christ and sentenced to spend eternity in a lake of fire. (see Rev 20:10)
Christ will not take the earth away from Satan, but simply reclaim what has always belonged to God. We read from the book of Revelation – Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Satan is described as the god of this world only because the sinful people of this world choose to submit to his authority and leadership. The world belongs to God. He is its Creator and therefore He is its rightful owner.
Scripture also teaches us that God the Father created the world and its universe through His Son.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.
Paul also reaffirms this great truth in his letter to the Colossians –
Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Jesus not only made all things, He holds all things together!
One of the great differences between Christianity and other world religions, (such as Buddhism and Islam), is their leaders. Mohammad and Buddha were mortal men. Jesus is the eternal Son of God. In other religions, men try to become more like God. In Christianity, God chose to become a man.
Scripture teaches us that Jesus is superior to any other type of religious belief because He is the Creator of all things. All things were created:
- By Him…,
- and for Him…,
- and that it is through Him that all things are held together.
