Are we living in the last days? That’s a question many have been asking for years and without a doubt, many more will ask in the days ahead.
Ours is not the first generation to ask this question, nor the last. Even before Jesus went to the cross, His disciples were concerned about when He would return and set up His kingdom.
As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds, his disciples pointed out to him the various Temple buildings. But he responded, “Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, they will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!” Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world? (Mt 24:1-3)
Some are extremely fascinated with studies on End Time Events, while others feel that we should not involve ourselves in such studies and concentrate more on just living a faithful Christian life. To me, scripture seems to teach both. There is much detail given in the Word of God concerning the events of the last days; yet, at the same time, scripture also teaches us that the knowledge of Christ’s return and the end of the world should motivate us to live a more God-honoring life.
We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. (Titus 2:12-13)
Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness. And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight. (2 Peter 2:11-14)
I personally believe that as the return of Jesus draws nearer, there will be more and more interest in what the Bible has to say, and therefore, Christians should have a working knowledge of End Time Events so that they will be able to share details with those who are lost, and hopefully win them to Christ.
Let me say first of all, I am by no means an expert on End Time Events. Far from it. I will do my best to share with you some of the things I have learned over the years and hopefully I will present them in a way that you can understand them. As I come across articles, websites, etc that I think are solid and helpful, I will share them with you. I will not have a new post every day on this subject. As I find a few extra moments along the way, I will bite off another mouthful and share it with you. My goal is that somewhere down the road, we will have a clear outline for us to follow along with some comments about each part of the outline. If indeed we are living in the last days, then information like this will become more and more valuable as time goes on. I pray that the Lord will somehow be able to use me help you reach someone for Christ.
